Game Rules & How Mahjong Works
Mahjong is a four-player strategy game where the goal is to form a winning hand using tile sets.
Basic Gameplay
🔹 Each player begins with 13 tiles (except the dealer, who starts with 14).
🔹 Players take turns drawing a tile from the wall and discarding an unwanted tile.
🔹 The objective is to form a winning hand consisting of four sets + one pair.
🔹 The first player to complete their hand and declare “Mahjong” wins!
🔹 If no one wins before all tiles are used, the round ends in a draw.
Tile Combinations & Winning Hands
To win, you must form sets using different types of tile combinations:
✔ Pong – Three identical tiles (e.g., three Bamboo 2s).
✔ Chow – A sequence of three consecutive tiles in the same suit (e.g., 4-5-6 in Circles).
✔ Kong – Four identical tiles (grants an extra turn).
✔ Pair – Two identical tiles (e.g., two 8s).
Once you successfully assemble four sets + one pair, you can declare “Mahjong”, and the game ends. Scores are then calculated to determine the final rankings.
